Luke Travers has signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers

According to the main man himself Andrew Gaze on SEN radio, Melbourne United guard Luke Travers has signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a two-way contract that will fulfil his dream of becoming a player in the NBA next season.

Much anticipation has been made of Luke Travers and his NBA chances during this NBA Summer League so far. The former Pick 56 in the 2022 NBA Draft was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers before being sent back to the NBL to continue his development.

Listen to Josh Higgins and Ryan Tucker chat about Travers' signing by the Cavs

The 22-year-old Travers has spent the last 2 seasons in the NBL working tirelessly on his overall game. Making the move to the big lights at Melbourne United at the start of NBL24 after spending 4 seasons at his hometown club the Perth Wildcats.

" Luke Travers had already signed a 2-way deal!"

Travers finished the NBL24 season with averages of 12.3 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 2 APG, 1.4 BPG and 1.1 SPG. All of these stats were an improvement on his previous 4 seasons at the Perth Wildcats and to top it off Melbourne United would finish as the top seed heading into the playoffs.

Travers flew straight over to America after the NBL24 season, working on his game day in day out in the lead up to the NBA Summer League. This would be his third Summer League appearance for the Cleveland Cavaliers and all eyes were on Travers to answer the biggest question of, “Will he be back in the NBL or will he take the step and secure an NBA contract next season.”

Our expert Josh Higgins talked with NBL legend and SEN host of “The Run Home With Andy & Gazey”, Andrew Gaze, where he announced on the show to Josh that Luke Travers had already signed a 2-way deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers and we won’t be seeing him in NBL25, with United quickly signing Jack White back to their roster to replace Luke Travers.

For the Willeton Senior High School student it was a humble beginning, but hard work and dedication has finally paid off and he will officially be living out his dream of being a NBA player for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
